1956 MerCury M100

A menagerie of parts

I've answered it before, but yes Mercury built pickup trucks.  They were only available in Canada from the mid-forties through the mid-seventies.  They are basically just re-badged Ford F100s with some trim changes, but they are pretty unique.

This particular truck started as just a bare Big Back Window cab and I added a custom rear bed from Dan Carpenter and picked up other parts along the way.  It's also got a custom Fatman frame and suspension, big brakes and billet wheels.  But otherwise is waiting its turn to be reborn.

Not a lot to say on this project other than I have most of the hard parts I need,  What I don't have is enough time.  Not to mention there are a bunch of other projects ahead of it.

It's about number 8 on my priority list.

FYI - the gallery below show pictures of my truck under construction and a lot of other finished trucks that give me inspiration, and prevent me from dumping out of this one.

I need therapy.

ENGINE

Nothing yet, but probably an FE motor.

DRIVETRAIN

I have a T6-speed for this -  if it doesn't get repurposed for something else.

CHASSIS

Fatman chassis with Mustang II IFS, four link rear with Currie 9 inch.  ART Air shocks all around.

BODY & PAINT

Lots of small dents but no  rust.  Brand new bed from Dan Carpenter, M100 tailgate from mid-fifty Ford and all the M100 emblems.

INTERIOR

Haven't even started.

WHEELS & TIRES

Not the final choice, but currently has Colorado Custom 22x10 in rear with 295/35-22 BFGs.  and 20x8.5 in front with 245/35-20 BFGs.

What's Next?

This is an easy build assuming I get the engine and drivetrain sorted out.

Just don't have the time.

I should really sell this one (and a few others ).
